REVIEWS

I wouldn't have got my Excellence for this standard without the AS 91421 Learning Programme. It was extremely helpful in preparing for my Level 3 exam - easy to follow, structured well so that everything you need to know is covered, and I felt prepared for each of the three questions.

This online resource is absolutely brilliant. It not only gives systematically clear explanations of the skills needed for the Level 3 Hamonic and Tonal Analysis exam, but students are carefully guided in how best to respond to the questions, in order to perform their absolute best in the exam. Any student wanting to be thoroughly prepared for the AS 91421 external exam will benefit considerably from this resource and it will be a welcome support for teachers at a time when teaching and study opportunities have been greatly impacted.

After a few weeks of using the AS 91421 Learning Programme, I feel that I have gained a much better understanding of harmonic and tonal theory and how this topic is assessed in NCEA. Various materials and learning methods are provided and the lessons are short and easy to understand, so no matter what level of musical knowledge someone has, they will be able to use this resource comfortably.

I've written this programme to help Level 3 NCEA music students prepare well for the external exam for AS91421, so they can get their best possible grade.

Over the years working in NZ High Schools, I've discovered that students sometimes find the exam hard because they don't know how to write effective harmonisations or complete an analysis of a piece of music they haven't seen before.

The AS 91421 Learning Programme is designed to teach students the skills they need and give them plenty of practice developing those skills. Example questions which are at a similar level to those found in the exam for the achievement standard are found throughout the programme.

The online delivery of the programme, means that students can work through the content at their own pace, continuing study at home if needed.
